Barcelona players Gerard Pique and Andres Iniesta quizzed Arsenal full back Hector Bellerin on his “personal situation” after their Champions League match.
Reports from the Sun claim that the Barca duo spoke to Bellerin after Barcelona’s 2-0 win against the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night, and the report claims that Iniesta and Pique were “impressed by Bellerin’s skill level”.
Bellerin has been a part of the Arsenal first team since breaking into the team during an injury crisis that saw Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers ruled out with injury, and after a string of good performances, Arsene Wenger kept the 20-year-old right back in the starting XI.
The Spaniard is Barcelona born-and-bred and was a student of the famous La Masia youth academy. There Bellerin played as a right back however he was poached away from the academy by Wenger when Bellerin was 15-years-old.
The situation is similar to that of former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, who came to Arsenal very young from the Barcelona academy, and then caught the attention of his former employers after becoming one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and Arsenal’s youngest ever captain.
