Here’s why Liverpool are favourites to win the title in 2019-20

Well, it was a season to remember for the Reds. They were seen dominating the proceedings right throughout the 2018-19 edition of the Premier League. Jordan Henderson, the English national, marshalled his troops with zeal and courage. Virgil Van Dijk’s ability to hold the team’s defense lines together during precarious times also came to the fore. The Dutch youngster played an instrumental role in leading the side to the UCL final (which the Reds ended up winning).

The Premier League title was well within their grasp. They were sitting right on top of the Premier League table for the most part of the season. Eventually, Manchester City won the Premier League title. Fans at the Anfield Arena were left heartbroken.

But, the Reds did give their fans a host of reasons to celebrate. Xherdan Shaqiri’s goal against Manchester United in December last year became the talk of the town. Liverpool defeated Tottenham to lift the UEFA Champions League.

Despite not getting their hands on the Premier League crown, Liverpool enjoyed an excellent season. Much like their previous season, Liverpool are expected to give their opponents a torrid time.

Here’s why Liverpool will begin their 2019-20 Premier League season as outright favourites.

The Klopp factor

The manager’s role cannot be undermined. Jurgen Klopp has been a formidable force. His presence in the side has instilled a sense of purpose within the players. Klopp has been the ‘12th player’ of this side. His on-field tactics have been able to bring about a positive change in the team’s mindset. While attack has always remained Liverpool’s strength, Klopp made sure that the defense lines are equally strong. Klopp can read match situations and formulate strategies in real time. His leadership abilities will make Liverpool a formidable force in the upcoming season.

A solid team effort

In order to win the Premier League title, you need to win matches. And, in order to win matches, you need players who can score goals. The likes of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah wreaked havoc on the oppositions’ defence lines. Both these men kept finding the net every now and then. Both Salah and Mane returned with 22 goals apiece at the end of the season. The likes of Xherdan Shaqiri, Nabiy Kieta, and Robverto Firmino did their bit as well. All in all, it was a good team effort. The team is expected to replicate the same success in the forthcoming season.

The bench looks strengthened

Liverpool’s bench strength looks really impressive. The team is packed with match winners. You look at their squad, there’s Shaqiri, there’s Roberto Firmino, there’s the evergreen Jordan Henderson.
