Liverpool Transfer News roundup: Woodburn, Ojo, Mignolet, Sturridge

It’s been a busy few months for Liverpool with the arrival of some big names during this summer’s transfer window. It is looking unlikely that there will be any more signings for the reminder of the window, however there could be a few departures.

18 year-old Ben Woodburn is the most recent to depart. He has joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan as they managed to fend off competition from Aston Villa for the teenagers signature. The Reds are said to of been waiting for Jack Grealish to leave Villa Park this summer. This would of left a void in central-attacking midfield, giving Woodburn the opportunity of more playing time. This is the perfect opportunity for Ben to show Jurgen Klopp his potential.

Sheyi Ojo, who spent last year on loan to newly promoted Fulham, looks set to be heading for another loan move. This time Middlesbrough is looking to be his preferred destination. Klopp speaks highly of the young starlet, however believes he will struggle to get much playing time due to Liverpool’s heavyweight attacking options.

La Liga giants Barcelona are said to be lining up a move for Simon Mignolet. With Jasper Cillessen’s future at the Nou Camp in doubt amid interest from a number of different clubs, Barca are surprisingly looking to secure the Belgian shot stopper for £12.5m. News also suggests that Klopp may be willing to off-load Loris Karius. Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly interested in the out of form goalkeeper.

According to reports, Jurgen Klopp is willing to give Daniel Sturridge’s injury ridden Anfield career a new lease of life after being left impressed by Sturridge’s preseason so far. Since scoring an impressive 24 goals in 33 appearances during the 2013/14 season, and almost helping Liverpool lift their first ever Premier Title, Daniel Sturridge has had a difficult time overcoming injuries. Having scored four goals in preseason, could Sturridge be giving Klopp an even bigger selection headache?
