Klopp rules out Van Dijk move

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that the club will not be signing another central defender in this transfer window. This news would mean that is the end of the reported interest in centre-back Virgil van Dijk.

“We have four. I don’t think we need more,” Klopp said of his central defensive options.

“In the moment I’m fine. We are open until the 31st. We cannot force the things and we would never get a centre-back just because.

“Look out there and tell me five that would make us stronger, five. Then you win a prize! It’s difficult how it is.”

Some are suggesting that Klopp will only sign a new defender if one his four current decide that they want to leave. But at the moment, a move for van Dijk looks extremely unlikely. The Reds were interested earlier this summer only to be rapped on the knuckles by the Premier League after Southampton complained over an illegal approach.
