Manchester City have made an offer to Bonucci in a bid to secure the defender’s services. This has caused problems for Serie A giants Juventus, as they may need to raise the player’s salary in order to keep him at the club.
Manchester City’s Premier League rivals Chelsea were believed to be in pole position to sign the 29-year-old defender even though reports suggested that Juventus were not willing to part ways with the defender for any price.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus will be attempting to solve the problem by renewing Bonucci’s contract and raising his salary in the process. They are reluctant to make the move though, as that may open the floodgates for various other players to demand a raise.
Manchester City are believed to be pressing hard to secure his services by offering him €8m per season for 5 years, which is more than double his current wage.
