Croatian playmaker to trade sunny Spain for White Hart Lane?

It isn’t the return of Luka Modrić, Tottenham fans, but reports about his compatriot, Mateo Kovačić , joining are picking up pace.

According to Spanish media site AS, Mauricio Pochettino will aim to bring in the playmaker, and a fee of around £25million could be agreed – a fee which Real Madrid paid for his services last year.

The Bernabeu hasn’t been a fortress for Kovačić, who has seen chances limited due to Real’s supremely talented squad – as well as the breakout form of Casemiro – since his arrival from Inter Milan.

With Spurs all but set for a return to the Champions League since being knocked out by the Los Blancos in 2011, Kovačić could find North London as the place to really fire his career back on track.

Pochettino as we know puts his utmost faith in young talent, which is something that will appeal to the 21-year-old.
