Liverpool monitor Oxlade-Chamberlain situation

According to ESPN FC, a source close to the 22 year old England international, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, has suggested that current club Arsenal are desperate to extend the winger’s current contract with only two years remaining on the deal.

With that being said, if a situation should arise where neither party can agree a suitable contract-extension, it is reported that both Liverpool and Manchester City are waiting in the wings and ready to pounce.

A huge summer of transfer activity is expected with the Reds and a winger is believed to be Jürgen’s number one priority. With this being the case, the source claims Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be on the Merseyside club’s wish-list.

Alex has spent 5 years with current club, Arsenal, after joining from Southampton in 2011 and has so far endured stop-start career as both untimely injuries and a limited number of first-team opportunities has hindered the 22 year old’s progression at the club.

With just 9 starts for Arsenal this season, Oxlade-Chamberlain may now be willing to look elsewhere for more first-team football and with Jürgen’s track record of playing youth and helping players progress from one level to another, moving from London to Liverpool this summer could look a very attractive proposition to Alex’s camp right now.

So what do you think? Is this a feasible transfer for both clubs and how much would the youngster be worth in todays market? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
