According to reports in Germany, Liverpool have come into pole-position in the race for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka, ahead of both Arsenal and Manchester City.
The Reds’ midfield is an issue which Jürgen Klopp will certainly look to address in the summer window as the German boss looks for a solution to his team’s lack of consistency.
With the signing of young Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic joining the Reds in the summer, Klopp looks ready to add even more power to the side and with the current midfield of; Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Emre Can, Joe Allen and Lucas Leiva crowding the room, it would seem likely that someone will have to be shown the door this summer.
The potential signing of one Granit Xhaka is rumoured to cost in the region of £30 million, a hefty price-tag, however with FSG providing Jürgen with what is believed to be a huge summer-budget on top of what the club makes from player sales, £30 million is a price Liverpool can afford.
What do you think of the Granit Xhaka rumour? Is it a realistic player for the Reds? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
