Joe Allen

The Liverpool Echo have recently reported that the Reds have rejected a bid for their midfielder, Joe Allen, from his previous employers, Swansea City.

After starting just one Premier League game under new boss, Jürgen Klopp, it would seem the Welshman is out of favour at Liverpool, a notion also stated by the by the 25 year old himself. This is something Allen will want to change as he enters the last year of his contract and recent performances (such as grabbing a late equaliser against Arsenal) could suggest the midfielder is up for the fight.

When asked about the probability of a new contract at the Merseyside club, Joe stated “That is something which has gone very quiet… I am not too sure really. I have made only one league start this season and I want to play more, I think that is obvious for any player in that situation… From my point of view it is about knuckling down, doing my job and giving my best, which I always do.”

Such lack of game-time has made Swansea’s new head coach, Francesco Guidolin sit up and take notice of the situation and it is now said that the club is ready to pounce on the opportunity to bring Joe back to the Liberty Stadium.

With rumours of a bid already being rejected by the Reds, it is believed that Klopp does not intend to let any of his players leave this window as the Reds have already been struggling for first teamers to stay fit.

However, if the midfielder fails to change Klopp’s apparent opinion through performances on the pitch and gain more first team action over the next few months, the situation of not selling the midfielder could alter and Joe Allen could be allowed to leave in the summer.
