Recent reports are now suggesting Liverpool may put an offer in for Swansea winger, André Ayew after a good start to his Premier League career.
The 26 year old Ghanaian Joined the Welsh club in the summer of 2015 from French side Marseille on a free transfer, proving to be a good bit of business as the player has been one of the only bright sparks in an otherwise dismal season so far for the Swans.
Ayew has become Swansea’s top goal-scorer, bagging 7 in 21 appearances for the club, one more than Liverpool’s top goal-scorer, Benteke (with 6). A prolific winger is certainly something which the Reds are in need of, as the only recognised winger at the club (Jordon Ibe) has yet to open his goal-scoring account in the Premier League this seaon after 18 appearances.
If recent rumours are to be believed, Liverpool are not alone in their interest of the 26 year old as Sunderland are said to have made a bid of £11 million, which has since been rejected by the Swans as their interim manager, Alan Curtis is adamant the sale of André will not happen any time soon.
The interim manager who took charge of his final game on Monday 18th January 2016 in Swansea’s 1-0 victory over Watford was quoted saying “There was talk of him (Ayew) going to Sunderland or them making a bid, but we wouldn’t even entertain that as far as I am concerned. He is one of a number of big players for us and we don’t want to lose anybody during the window… It’s important no one else goes out through the door.”
With such quotes, it would seem hard to believe a move for the player could be possible this month. Nevertheless, money talks and it is now believed that Sunderland will be making another bid, this time in the £14 million region.
If Liverpool were to match such an offer, it is believed the Reds could gain the upper hand as it has been well reported André Ayew is a big fan of the Merseyside club. However, it is yet to be seen if Swansea will yield to such an offer on the Ghanaian player.
