Arsenal make enquiry for 23-year-old Serie A forward

According to reports, Arsenal are showing an interest in 23-year-old Torino forward M’Baye Niang and have made an enquiry.

The Gunners will be facing a lot of competition for his signature and according to the player, he may prefer a move to back to France.

The North-London club are known to have an interest in Niang, this dates back to 2012 when an enquiry was made for the then teenager who had put in a number of spectacular performances with Caen in Ligue 1. However, Niang decided to make the switch to AC Milan where he failed to properly establish himself as a first-team regular. He was sent out on loan to Montpellier, Genoa and Watford where he spent the second half of the 2016-17 campaign.

Milan sold Niang to Torino for a deal believed to have been around £11million last summer. He played in 26 of their 38 Serie A games and for 18 of those he started the match.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Arsenal and West Ham United are both very interested, but will be facing competition from Serie A side Nice and Niang is keen to move to the south of France if only so he can be closer to his family.

“After the holidays I will evaluate what is best for me,” Niang said after the World Cup where he made appearances for Senegal.

“I like the idea of embarking on new experiences wherever it is. I could not express myself in France but I would like to come back. I know that several clubs in Ligue1 are following me. It’s definitely a possibility.”
