The 21-year-old has been linked once again with interest from Barcelona. That’s despite him recently signing a new deal with Arsenal that could keep him at the North-London club until 2023.
However in an interview with the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo recently, Bellerin tried to play down rumours that he would be interested in a move back to the Nou Camp.
“Yes, any player would be flattered by the interest of Barca. It is the best club in the world and that’s very nice. The fact that I grew up in the Barca academy also makes it that extra bit special. But for now, I’m focused on our matches over the rest of the season. All the rest will come later.”
He went on:
“When I left Barca my idea was not to return because my departure was a little complicated, just like others say that they would return.
“I went to live my adventure in England. But what the future holds you do not know and you cannot close any doors.”
Arsene Wenger was asked last week about the possibility of Bellerin making a return to Barcelona. He ruled it out by saying:
“He’s just extended his contract,
“It’s an unbelievable number of years to go so I believe again that it is very difficult to take these things seriously.”
