Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has, according to the Mirror, told Roman Abramovic (club owner) that the Stamford Bridge club must sign 5 more players before the end of the transfer window if they platoon challenging for the title next season.
The report claims that Chelsea director Granovskaia and technical director Emenalo were there at what was described as “a stormy two-hour summit” after Rapid Vienna’s 2-0 win against the Blues in Austria last weekend.
Abramovich was reportedly very unhappy with what he heard from Conte, the former Italy coach, about the state of the squad but did express that he would be willing to splash the cash. The Russian does have concerns about increased competition from Manchester United and Manchester City in the transfer market though.
Chelsea have not been quiet in the transfer window, having already spent £63million so far on Batshuayi and Kante. But Chelsea have been linked with PSG striker Cavani and are expected to make a £42million bid for the Argentine.
