Argentina international Higuain has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for a fixed fee of €94.5million (£74million) and it isn’t clear whether or not Liverpool have that kind of money or are prepared to pay that much.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp attended the Argentina vs Chile match to watch Higuain play for his country in a 2-1 victory in the Copa America in Santa Clara, California last night. But Klopp watched the game in the company of Higuain’s brother Nicolas who also acts as the striker’s agent and that has led to numerous speculations that the move is a done deal.

However we’ve been told that Napoli are preparing to offer Higuain a new deal with a pay rise to €7million a year after tax. That’s the equivalent of £175,000 a week before tax.
