According to reports, Arsenal will be offering Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata wages of £155,000 a week.
The Sun reported that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is willing to make the 23-year-old Juventus striker the highest-paid player at the Emirates, in a bid to strengthen the Arsenal strike force especially after the long term Welbeck injury. The paper added that Chelsea have already been in touch with Morata’s agent and will offer him £135,000 a week plus a bonus based on goals scored.
This won’t matter though as both Premier League clubs will face competition from Paris Saint-Germain.
Morata currently earns €4.5million after tax in Italy. That’s the equivalent of £120,000 a week gross. PSG will double that to €9million a year. The top rate of tax in France is a little lower than in Italy, but Morata will still be picking up the equivalent of £240,000 a week gross, which could me much more appealing to the striker
Meanwhile, the Gunners are believed to be interested in Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko. The 26-year-old was linked with the Gunners before his move to St James’s Park in 2013, but he would cost Arsenal around £10million.
Rafa Benitez is expected to sign a new deal with Newcastle this week, but Sissoko is one of a small number of players that the club could be leaving the club after the side’s relegation to the Championship.
