According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Argentina international Gonzalo Higuaín is looking for a way out of Serie A side Napoli, with Liverpool looking to provide an escape route for the striker at the end of the season.
Gonzalo is currently under contract with Napoli until 2018, a contract containing a buy-out clause believed to be around £77 million, a huge price-tag which will no doubt encourage a number of onlooking teams to search elsewhere in the market for a striker.
However, the 28 year old is proving his value for money as he currently sits at the top of the Serie A goal-scoring charts with 24 in 26 league appearances. 11 goals ahead of Juventus forward, Paulo Dybala who sits in second place.
Even with the substantial buy-out clause within Higuaín’s contract, his stats have made a number of Europe’s elites interested in the striker and Napoli boss, Maurizio Sarri, has made his understanding of the situation clear on the matter as he told the media “I do not read the rumours but I think there will be even more offers.”
With the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and also Paris Saint-Germain all ready to fight for the Argentine hot-shot, it remains very interesting to see how Liverpool may go about business in their pursuit to land a top centre-forward this summer.
