Melissa Reddy (Goal.com reporter) stated earlier today of Liverpool’s interest in Monaco youngster, Kylian Mbappe.
Kylian has been in the headlines this season for all the right reasons this week as the attacker managed to break a record at Monaco which was previously held by the one and only Thierry Henry.
During Monaco’s 3-1 win over Troyes, Mbappe managed to net himself a goal in the 92nd minute of the game, breaking the club record of Monaco’s youngest ever goal-scorer by 6 months.
This isn’t the first time the Frenchman has managed to hit the headlines as Kylian also managed to get himself an assist against English side Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League competition in which the 17 year old was only on the pitch for the final 34 minutes of the game.
Kylian Mbappe may only be 17 years of age, however his strengths of close-control, dribbling abilities and blistering speed have been well documented and it is traits like these which have also alerted other European elites to monitor the player.
Befitting of the Reds’ current system of buying youthful players, Mbappe could well be on Jürgen Klopp’s list. However, with Monaco reportedly desperate to tie the player down to his first professional contract, signing Kylian Mbappe in the coming summer transfer window could prove a difficult task.
