Italian outlet, Tutto Mercato have claimed that Liverpool are currently keeping tabs on the Portuguese international midfielder, William Carvalho.
The 23 year old has been with his current club Sporting since 2005, however it wasn’t until the 2013-14 season the player broke into the first team playing as a regular, a season in which William managed to win the LPFP Primeira Liga award for Best Breakthrough Player of the Year.
Since then, Carvalho has managed to gather serious interest from some the biggest heavyweights in Europe by producing some top displays for not just club but country too. The latest come in the shape of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship where Carvalho managed to win Player of the Tournament despite his country finishing as runners-up.
With the defensive midfielder displaying another consistently good season for Sporting CP, both Liverpool and Arsenal are said to be monitoring the 23 year old very closely. However, it is now believed Sporting will try to put off potential suiters by offering William a new contract containing a £46 million buyout clause within it.
Even if this is the case, it is believed Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp will have a hefty transfer budget this summer and only an outrageous figure may deter the German from getting his man.
