Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez has been linked with a move to North London according to reports.
The 29-year-old Colombian has had a difficult in the Spain since his move to the capital in the summer, scoring just two goals in the 11 league appearances Martinez has made for the La Liga title contenders, and according to the Express, the former Porto striker is ready to leave Madrid.
Arsenal and Chelsea are both reportedly interested in the striker, and due to the Gunners’ short numbers at front, Arsenal could be back in the race for Martinez.
Moving on from Martinez, Arsene Wenger is hoping to announce the signing of Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel in the next 24 hours.
Wenger stated in a interview that: “We hope to announce a player in the next 24 to 48 hours,” “I don’t need to tell you the name.”
The 23-year-old has already completed a medical according to numerous sources, and the fee is estimated to be around £7.3 million. The signing of Elneny will bring more cover in the central midfield position after Arsenal lost Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla to long term injuries back in November.
